A Child’s Dream

The following three pieces of poems are about childhood dreams. Some dreams might come to reality while some others might not, depending on how hard to put efforts on them. Enjoy reading ^^

Playing with a Kite

Catching a Kite

Playing with a kite in a hot and windy soccer field
Red eyes and dark skins, all ran to catch the loose kite
With tall sticks, all eyes were up above and nothing could stop
Even the mother’s call to have lunch would seem unheard

The excitement would come in three
Flying a kite, challenge another kite, and catch the loose kite
Yes, it’s not a kite festival, not a decorated kite
It was indeed a show of joy

The beauty of a childhood dream, far, far away
A child’s memory of a kite challenge and its joy
Laughs are to share with others like serenade
A child’s relic for anyone who smiles at the end of the day

Row, Row Your Boat

A Boat on Leiden’s Canal

The small boat was ready to go
We were all happy and paddles were ready to row
The journey to circle the canal would begin
Passengers’ smiles were up in the air

White swans would always get close to see
Warm squeaking would be heard from these beautiful white feathers
It’s a pure joy to ride in a boat in a canal
Where windmills were nearby, slowly rotating in the chill air

The beauty of a childhood dream, far, far away
A child’s memory of a boat ride and its joy
Laughs are to share with others like serenade
A child’s relic for anyone who smiles at the end of the day

A Conversation with a Snowman

A Conversation with a Snowman

Hello snowman, is it freezing here?
Your scarf is the best I could put on you
Snowman, can you see all the skiers in the summit?
For the joy of rising adrenaline, they hunt high and low

Snowman, a remnant from my dream is vividly seen
In everyone’s heart in the slope of the mountain
Little lights shall dim; in thick fogs they’d be thin
When dusk approaches the summit, a conversation with you would remain

The beauty of a childhood dream, far, far away
A child’s memory of making a snowman and its joy
Laughs are to share with others like serenade
A child’s relic for anyone who smiles at the end of the day
